Bowling Green Philharmonia
The Bowling Green Philharmonia is the premiere 管弦乐队l ensemble at Bowling Green State University, performing a variety of 管弦乐队l literature from the st和ard repertoire to music of today. 每年, the Philharmonia participates in the internationally acclaimed New Music Festival sponsored by BGSU’s 学院 音乐艺术 和 the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music. Festival guest composers have included John Adams, 塞缪尔•阿德勒, 乔治·克拉姆, Shulamit跑, Bright Sheng 和 Joan Tower. To date, the Philharmonia, under the direction of Emily Freeman Brown, has released five CDs on the Albany Records label all consisting of repertoire performed at the New Music Festival.
In addition, the 管弦乐队 presents combined concerts with various BGSU choirs. These concerts have featured the Brahms’安魂曲韩德尔的 弥赛亚马勒的 交响曲》. 2卡尔奥尔夫的,Carmina Burana,莫扎特的 安魂曲 和巴赫的 颂歌.
The Philharmonia, or the Camerata campo di bocce, joins the Bowling Green 歌剧 Theater for a fully staged production every year. Recent operas have included The Marriage of Figaro 和 The Magic Flute 由W.A. 莫扎特, Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss 和 《波希米亚 by Giacomo Puccini. A concert featuring winners of the college’s annual 比赛 in Music Performance is also presented spring semester.
The Philharmonia also performs at least one concert of purely 管弦乐队l works each semester. Recent repertoire has included Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique,巴托克的 Concerto for 管弦乐队布拉姆斯的 交响曲》. 2 in D Major霍尔斯特的 行星, Shostakovich’s 交响曲》. 10 和 Stravinsky’s Petroushka.
Camerata campo di bocce (on hiatus)
The Camerata is an elite, audition-only, chamber 管弦乐队. Participation is competitive 和 open only to Philharmonia members in good st和ing. The Camerata performs on select concerts throughout the season, both on- 和 off-campus. Recent performances have included the opera Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten, Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony, Cavalli’s opera Gli amori d’Apollo e di Dafne 和 The Magic Flute 由莫扎特.
Bowling Green Chamber 管弦乐队 (on hiatus)
The chamber 管弦乐队 is an audition-only ensemble comprised of members in good st和ing of the Philharmonia. Its purpose is to provide students with opportunities to study 和 learn music for smaller 管弦乐队 not normally performed by the Philharmonia. Repertoire performed in recent years include works of 莫扎特, Corelli, Vivaldi, Britten 和 Milhaud.
